Some advice needed

Okay, I totally thought it was Thursday yesterday. I didn't figure it out until late last night. The problem is, Thursday is our senior discount day, so last night at work I mistakenly gave a couple people discounts. It was nothing major -- no more than three or four people just buying cards, so the discounts couldn't have been more than $5.

So the advice I need is whether I should say something today about the discounts or not?

If I say nothing, I could either get away with it or possibly get in trouble later and plead dumbness. This might work, since the assistant manager did the reports last night, which should have showed the discounts given that day, but he said nothing to me about it. If I say something now, I may head off any anger or confusion about the books later. What should I do?

I think you should tell him. It was an honest mistake and you didn't mean it. Plus it wasn't like you gave away hundreds of dollars, it's only about $5.

Good luck. *hugs*

Hmm, I was going to say "don't say anything". Last week I watched this stupid kid walk out of shoppers with 60 photocopies under his arm without asking him to pay (I overheard him telling his mom he had paid one of the other cashiers, and later I asked her and she said he hadn't paid her, so I figured he just walked out). I didn't say anything about it, and it cost the store about $6.00.

But leggyslove is probably right as to doing the honest thing. So you should probably tell them - it will raise your esteem in their eyes for being honest, even if you have to deal with chewing you out for it.

I'd say just be honest about the mistake. It wasn't loads of money, and it really is something that could have happened to anyone.

Dude, it was five bucks, I doubt anyone cares either way. I shudder to think how much money I managed to lose at our Hallmark. *Shudders*

Hehe, but nobody really gave a crap at our store. This place they expect you to account for every penny.
